RFK Jr has appointed Dr. Ralph Abraham as deputy CDC Director. He is a top Louisiana health official and is leaving his post as Louisiana surgeon general to take on the CDC role. Abraham will be the highest ranked official at the agency with a medical degree. The CDC Directorship is vacant after RFK Jr. ousted former director Susan Monarez after she refused to greenlight vaccine recommendations from the agency's advisory panel. Jim O'Neill is Kennedy's HHS deputy and is currently acting CDC director. Abraham may be a breath of fresh air.
