The "Left" is being misdirected to believe that taxes fund public spending. They don't. More taxes will not increase public spending, they will only make central banks richer. Your taxes are only there to repay Central Banks, not to pay for anything. In fact by paying taxes all you/we are doing is legitimising the loaning at interest that central banks do towards government, which is the root of the problem.
