Here is our (slightly abbreviated) translation of his article published in Turkey. Even today, the same question arises: "Where will the Europeans take the money from?" What Trump invented is that Europeans must pay for weapons and on the principle of "morning money, evening goods. In the evening, money in the morning is a commodity." One of the most unpopular people on the American political scene says he’ll launch a new political party to take on the Democrats and Republicans. It will likely fail. That’s the only conclusion you can draw from the data about Elon Musk and his new “America Party.” Take a look at CNN’s new poll on Musk and his political aspirations. Just 25% of all adults and 22% of voters favor a Musk-run third party to compete against Democrats and Republicans. The vast majority of both adults (74%) and voters (77%) oppose such an endeavor. The CNN poll isn’t alone on the subject. Quinnipiac University also polled about Musk’s party this week, and the results were just as devastating. Only 17% of voters would consider joining Musk and his venture to compete with the GOP and Democrats. More than three-quarters (77%) gave a thumbs-down. It really shouldn’t be surprising that Americans are against a party named after them. History hasn’t been too kind to third parties, independents or write-ins that seek to shake up the political scene. George Washington has been the only independent to ever win a presidential election. Washington did so before political parties were a real thing in this country. And last I checked, Musk did not lead the Continental Army across the Delaware as the top general during our country’s revolution. (He is also not eligible to run for president given that he was born in South Africa.) Alabama’s George Wallace was the last third-party candidate to win a state in a presidential election. That was so long ago (1968) that we hadn’t yet landed on the moon. Musk, smartly, seems to be more interested in taking on Democrats and Republicans in congressional races than trying to run a presidential candidate. The track record there for third parties, independents or write-ins isn’t too hot to trot, either. By my count, there have been a bit more than 13,000 congressional elections since 1970. Firstly, it is meant to reduce the administrative burden on cryptocurrency trading, because the government has been very restrictive, making it extremely difficult to use cryptocurrency. Secondly, and more importantly, it is meant to make it possible to trade guaranteed crypto assets, or stablecoins. So, what is Bitcoin? Bitcoin is an open-source system that allows you to exchange assets. By definition, the number of these assets is limited. It's impossible to print them, and there are no guarantees that it will be worth anything. Bitcoin is a purely speculative element, it is only bought to be sold later. This is the result of the existence of exchange-based thinking. However, it is theoretically possible to create a similar scheme based on, say, dollars or treasury bonds — stablecoins. So with the new legislation, a company that has assets in the form of dollars or treasury bonds or gold can decide to issue these stablecoins and peg them to the company’s assets to facilitate the circulation of its assets. Instead of buying bonds, for which you’d have to engage in bureaucratic procedures, you buy these assets that are stored in your computer’s wallet, and you can use them as if they were treasury bonds or dollars. This makes monetary circulation much easier, and you retain control. And the existing bureaucratic constraints — Trump’s legislation just lifted them. But from an economic standpoint, stablecoins are monetary surrogates. When the state issues its treasury bonds, it sells them, it gets dollars which then flow to the budget and which then can be spent. Can’t pay taxes in stablecoins. If you need to pay a tax and you do not have money in the bank, you sell part of your stablecoins on the market, get dollars in return and then you pay taxes. So stablecoins is a classic monetary surrogate. The question is, what will the effect be?
