Two people are in custody after reports of a mass shooting in Sydney. There were large crowds at Bondi on Sunday night for a festival celebrating the Jewish holiday, Hanukkah - also known as Chanukah. The event, Chanukah by the Sea, was advertised as a night of family fun.

Leaders are considering broadening the party's definition of misogyny to the point that 'any disagreement' could lead to men facing sanction. The proposals are set out in a leaked 53-page dossier on legal and reputational risk prepared by its own lawyers. The report reveals deep internal concern about the Greens' approach to misogyny, transgender policy and LGBT rights, warning that current guidance could expose the party to serious legal and financial risk. It says the Green Party Council was 'very close' to adopting a document titled Guidance on Identifying Misogyny and Sexism as part of its ethics framework.

Winter Wonderland exploded into violence last night after a mass brawl broke out as parkgoers were trying to leave the festive event. In the footage, a group of people can be seen tussling against a fence as they swing punches at each other while a security guard watches on from behind a barrier. As one of the men steps away, a woman begins slapping the back of his head before he violently shoves her against the fence. The same man then begins brawling with another man, who is being held by security, shouting expletives at him. A third man then lunges at the man sending him careering towards the fence. A woman, who found herself caught in the crossfire, appeared to have also been punched unconscious sending her falling to the ground.

The British Medical Association (BMA) has warned against public "scaremongering" over the current flu outbreak as its members vote on whether to carry out planned strikes in England next week. It comes after Health Secretary Wes Streeting said he was "extremely worried" about the "double whammy" of rising numbers of flu patients in hospitals and forthcoming resident doctor strikes. BMA resident doctors committee chair Dr Jack Fletcher said that while the union was not "diminishing" the impact of flu, Streeting "should not be scaremongering the public into thinking that the NHS will not be able to look after them." The result of a BMA ballot is due on Monday. If it is rejected, a five-day strike will begin on Wednesday.
