A different kind of wildlife - the scary part 😅

Excited about the wildlife in the valley 😁🦏 A year ago we found this huge eaten Ibex leg in the middle of the road, we thought huh? What happened to that guy? A few weeks ago, we came across a giant footprint, which made us think that some funny random guy drew this in the mud. A few days later, found another giant footstep, same pattern, this time in the river bed, thinking must be a random giant dog. A few evenings later a loud animal noise we've never heard before was travelling fast from left to right, just outside our yurt, baffling us. It couldn't be an ibex, a cat, a dog, a fox or a boar, because we know those sounds. We looked to find out what a deer in Andalusia would sound like - not even knowing if deer live in Southern Spain 😁. Found a video of an Iberian Lynx eating a deer 😬. And whilst hearing the noise of a lynx - the penny dropped. The leg, the foot prints, the crazy noise.. It's a Lynx!! Perhaps a night-vision camera or two would give us confirmation, because that would be fucking cool!

Want to live self-sufficient? Then we got to do it 😁. As absolute leeks in growing our own food, it’s taken us quite some time to start our own veg garden. With the guidance and support of our friends, we got inspired and finally put our focus to it. The wildlife here with a big population of boars is not making it easy. They’re encroaching on the land from all sides digging up the soil and breaking the beautiful old stone walls. To secure our veg patch, we need to fence it off, restore the broken down stone wall and put steps in for easy access.. Getting there 😅🥦

A pristine blue sky with a bright glaring sun. Crispy air and radiating light nourishing our bodies and nature around. A normality many years ago, now a rare sight.. Look up, and when you catch one - celebrate and fly a kite! ☀️

From source to quenching thirst 💦 We’ve got a year round supply of water from a natural source that comes straight out of the mountains. The ancient acequias, that still exist, lead the water to many areas in the valley. The farmers use it to water their olive groves. Nowadays, some of the acequias are replaced by plastic tubes. We store our water in a large tank, which leads to our trees and supplies our bathrooms and kitchens🚰
