What types of bets are there in poker?💸
Successful poker is aggressive poker, but amateur players often don’t know why they bet the way they do. They do not separate bets into bluffs and value bets. They just bet because they don’t know how else to play. Today we are going to take a look at the types of bets there are in poker.
🥇 Value bets
The most common and most important type of bet is a value bet. Value betting is when we are confident that we are beating enough of our opponent’s hands that they can call. It’s the foundation of our poker win rate.
🎭 Bluff
We bluff when our hand is unlikely to win at the showdown, but there is still an opportunity to win the pot by forcing our opponent to fold to a better hand. For a bluff to be profitable, your opponent must fold with a certain frequency based on our sizing.
🫥 Semi-bluff
We are trying to force our opponent to fold, but if we call, we still have outs with a straight or flush, at the expense of winning a bigger pot with a bet on the next street.
🛡 A bet for the defense
We’re pretty sure we have the best hand right now, but it’s easy to overplay it. So we have to bet on the value now, but we would also like to take the pot right away. A good example of such a bet would be playing a hand like 99 on a flop of 822.

Fact of the Day🧐
In 1937, the production of decks with a fifth suit began. It was called the Royals. A magnificent royal crown was depicted on the card. However, these decks were not a hit with players and quickly went out of production. Now collectors around the world are looking for rare five-suit decks and are willing to spend over $1,000 for one.

Top 5 Unconventional Poker Tricks🤯
Playing according to a standardized scheme is perfectly normal. However, in some situations, deviating from your standard play can bring you much more profit. Here are some of the most interesting lines and situations:
🎚️ Have a raise-fold range. If you want to maximize your expectations with the upper spectrum of your hands, you are going to have a number of raise-folds with short stacks. For example, if your opponent knows that you have hands that you will fold to a 3-bet, then you are more likely to get a 3-bet. This increases the expected value (EV) of your best hands. That’s why it’s a good idea to think about your raise-fold ranges.
🎚️ Use limping for part of the range. If you don’t feel like folding to a 3-bet late in the tournament and can’t get all-in, you have the option of limping a few hands. It may seem absurd at times, but when you are under the gun at ICM with short stacks behind you, limping is nothing to be ashamed of. Just give it a try, it might really help you.
🎚️ Squeeze. Nowadays, many players are afraid to squeeze their hands with Aces or small to medium pockets in the right situation. You absolutely need to add squeeze ranges to your game when there is a raise from a losing opponent and a call from a very weak player. Ah, the hands that can really make you money are the pocket hands and the hands with blockers.
🎚️ Check-raise bluff. One of the strongest post-flop moves always looks like a check-raise. By default, the check-raise range always looks like two pair or better. If you’re sure your opponent hasn’t hit the board, but he’s still betting you a continuation bet, you might try a check-raise once in a while. You may be surprised at just how effective it can be.
🎚️ Don’t 3-bet the Aces. If you have Aces and a raise is coming at you, don’t hesitate to look at the players sitting to your left. If you notice aggressive players there with a small stack, try just playing a call. A lot of times you’ll see aggressive short-stacks going all in and your trap is already set with Aces.
Play outside the box and win big. Good luck playing poker💰
