📰 Indonesia has banned the sale of the iPhone 16 🇮🇩 Indonesia blocked Apple Inc. from selling its latest iPhones in Southeast Asia’s largest economy, saying the company has yet to meet local investment requirements.

The industry ministry said earlier in October that Apple has only invested 1.5 trillion rupiah ($95 million) in Indonesia, below its commitment of 1.7 trillion rupiah. Apple built four developer academies in the country in lieu of establishing a local manufacturing facility, though CEO Tim Cook said in April that the company was looking into the feasibility of doing so.

💰 How to get up to a million dollars from Apple 📰 Apple said it would pay between $50,000 and $1 million to hack into its Private Cloud Compute (PCC) servers, which are used to run Apple Intelligence.

Because PCC extends the industry-leading security and privacy of Apple devices into the cloud, the rewards we offer are comparable to those for iOS. We award maximum amounts for vulnerabilities that compromise user data and inference request data outside the PCC trust boundary.

👨‍💻 To allow other users to verify PCC, Apple has gone to the unusual step of opening up the source code of some of the PCC components that allow security and privacy checks. 🔧 Apple has also released a toolkit that allows you to test PCC security and simulate an attack right from your Mac for the first time. The first 📱 18.2 beta for developers: what's new about Apple Intelligence ・Image Playground – vital image generation. ・Image Wand – make a sketch and AI will make it more beautiful. ・Genmoji – like Image Playground, but on a smaller emoji-sized scale. People that have iOS 18.1 installed will see Genmoji and can even get information about them, but they can only be created in iOS 18.2. In earlier versions of iOS, they show up as an image. ・Siri ChatGPT – Siri can now hand over requests to ChatGPT, a feature is entirely opt-in. ・Visual Intelligence – on iPhone 16, Visual Intelligence can be used to identify objects and places around you. 🎃 Apple's schedule for the next week from Mark Gurman 📆 In his latest posts on 𝕏, he said an "M4 Mac launch" is on Apple's schedule for next week, but he did not mention a specific day. ⏰ In the next post, Gurman said that Apple is inviting journalists and content creators to a hands-on experience in Los Angeles next Wednesday, and he believes this means the new Macs would need to be announced before then. ⏳ Anyway, it looks like Apple will announce the first Macs with M4 chips in around a week from now at the latest, based on these latest claims. It's still not entirely clear if it will be an online event or if the products will be announced in press releases on the Apple Newsroom website only. There is still time left in October for Apple to invite the media to watch an online event, but it's hardly ever to believe. 📆 Apple internally believes that it’s at least two years behind in AI development 🤖 According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, some employees inside Apple believe that their generative artificial intelligence technology is more than 2 years behind other industry players with AI (at least for the moment). For example, even according to internal tests ChatGPT powered by the GPT-4o engine is about 25% more accurate than Siri, and can answer about 30% more questions. 🇺🇸 The company's current strategy is to make sure all Apple devices with displays can run Apple Intelligence on the device itself. 📱 iPhone 16 Pro bug causing random freezing and restarts 🖥 Some iPhone 16 Pro users are reporting random freezes and restarts with their devices. 🕐 The problem seems to pop up randomly. The display will stop responding or will be very slow to respond to touch input, and then the iPhone will do a quick restart. There have also been reports of the ‌iPhone‌ restarting unexpectedly when in StandBy mode. ☁️ For most people, the issue is sporadic, but some users have seen 10 to 20 crashes per day. 📞 Tim Cook complained to Trump about EU fines imposed on Apple 🇺🇸 The former US president said he would not allow the European Union to “take advantage of American companies” if he wins the election.

“Three hours ago, he [Cook] called me. He said the European Union has just fined us $15 billion... Then on top of that, they got fined by the European Union another $2 billion. He [Cook] said something that was interesting. He said they’re using that to run their enterprise, meaning Europe is their enterprise. I said, that’s a lot... But Tim, I got to get elected first, but I’m not going to let them take advantage of our companies — that won’t, you know, be happening.”

– Trump said. 🧾 In March, the EU fined Apple around $2 billion after finding that Apple used its dominance to restrict music streaming apps from telling customers about cheaper subscription deals outside the App Store.
