As much as 99% of global internet communications rely on a series of undersea cables that are incredibly vulnerable to sabotage—as China has shown us—and earlier this year China unveiled a special tool that can cut even the deepest undersea cables. That’s why Ganley is working on something called the Outernet, a constellation of 600 Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellites that would make up the world’s first self-contained communications network - and that would be way less vulnerable to attacks. Unlike traditional satellite networks that route data back to Earth repeatedly, the satellites are interlinked by high-speed lasers and advanced onboard routers, making it possible for data to travel directly through space, touching the Earth only at the start and the final destination. But progress has been slow. Why? Ganley refuses to partner with Chinese companies on the project. “We have absolutely handed them data network dominance on a plate, and now they want this Outernet. Why do they want it? What this shows to me and why I posted it - is that we political junkies are living in a bit of a bubble. Except for Rogan (and maybe even Rogan) - these are all fairly non-political, entertaining podcasts about how to be more successful in careers, business, love - or are about crime stories (a favorite topic on streaming and cable) And suggests that the rest of America isn't so focused on conservative/political issues, as some of us on X are. But it is interesting that just mentioning that Candace or Tucker are not the biggest podcasts in the USA - has people attacking me or Grok or AI - as that this somehow indicates that I (or the AIs) are attacking the podcasters.
