He added that the establishment of Community and State Police would become a reality once the National Assembly completes the necessary legislative process. Tinubu also explained that replacing military hardware remains difficult due to high costs and limited availability. “Our orders for four att+ck helicopters from the United States will take some time to arrive. We have approached Turkey for assistance,” he said. The development comes amid renewed security cooperation between Nigeria and the United States. On Thursday, U.S. President Donald Trump announced via Truth Social that American forces carried out airstrikes in North-West Nigeria, k+lling several t+rrorists. The Nigerian government later confirmed the operation, describing it as a joint effort. Meanwhile, Islamic cleric Sheikh Abubakar Gumi called on Nigeria to halt military cooperation with the U.S., warning that foreign intervention could worsen insecurity. He urged the government to seek help from what he termed “neutral” countries such as China, Turkey and Pakistan.

FG Seeks Turkey’s Support Over Insecurity. The Federal Government has disclosed that it has approached Turkey for assistance in addressing Nigeria’s worsening insecurity challenges. President Bola Tinubu made this known on Friday during a meeting with a delegation of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), led by its President, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, at his Lagos residence. The meeting was confirmed in a statement by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga. Tinubu urged CAN to work closely with his administration to realise the nation’s collective aspirations, noting that some security measures already taken would take time to yield results. “The mood of the nation is peaceful, although our ungoverned spaces are so large. The challenge is real, but we will surmount it. We are very religious and prayerful, and we need your focus, vigilance and cooperation,” the President said.

The guards, who completed a rigorous three-month training program, will gather human intelligence, support existing security operations, and help restore government presence in areas where it has been limited. Their training included endurance exercises, obstacle-crossing drills, and long-range patrol simulations to prepare them for sustained forest operations. The seven pilot states Adamawa, Borno, Kwara, Kebbi, Niger, Sokoto, and Yobe will host the initial deployment, with plans for nationwide expansion as additional recruits complete training. The Presidential Forest Guards initiative, launched by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in May, is a collaboration between the federal and state governments. Training was coordinated by personnel from the Nigerian Army, Navy, Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Police Force, NSCDC, National Park Service, and National Intelligence Agency (NIA). Ribadu emphasized that the core mandate of the forest guards is to combat b@nditry, insurgency, terrorism, and other cr+minal activities in forested areas. He added, “Processes have commenced to train new batches across additional states, ensuring rapid expansion and comprehensive national coverage.”

Recalling the 2023 general elections, Wike praised residents for standing firm in support of Tinubu at a time many politicians were uncertain, noting that their resolve helped strengthen the President’s mandate in Rivers State. He appeared to criticise politicians who recently aligned with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), suggesting their support came too late. Wike emphasised the importance of honouring political agreements, warning that his camp would not be taken for granted as the next political cycle approaches. He added that frequent att@cks against him stem from his insistence on accountability and adherence to agreements, alleging that some politicians abuse him for personal gain. Earlier, Chibudom Nwuche commended Wike for his developmental contributions to the Ekpeye Kingdom, particularly the elevation of several traditional stools during his tenure as governor. He said Wike’s leadership positively impacted the people, earning him enduring loyalty across the area.

The experience, he said, opened his eyes to the absence of quality healthcare facilities in the Southeast. Determined to change that reality, Emenike decided to invest in a hospital as a way of giving back and proving that athletes can make meaningful, wise investments. Beyond healthcare, Emenike noted that his hospital, hotel, and apartment businesses now provide employment for more than 70 people combined, though job creation was not his primary goal. He said his main aim was to send a message that success after football requires discipline, foresight, and purposeful investment. He concluded by warning footballers about the harsh realities of life after retirement, describing it as unforgiving if not properly planned. Emenike also reflected on cultural expectations placed on him as an Igbo man and expressed appreciation for the respect and encouragement he received, admitting it changed his perception of how he is viewed.

Ex-Super Eagles Star Emenike Opens Up on Losing His Father After $150,000 Medical Treatment in Dubai, Says It Motivated Him to Build a Hospital in Imo State. Former Super Eagles striker Emmanuel Emenike has revealed that the pai+nful loss of his father after an expensive medical battle inspired him to build a full-scale hospital in Imo State. He said the project was driven by personal experience, not wealth or ambition. Emenike explained that running a hospital goes far beyond constructing a building, noting that medical equipment alone can consume everything a footballer earns in an entire career. He admitted the scale of the investment was unfamiliar and challenging. According to him, the idea was born when his father fell seriously ill while he was playing for Fenerbahce. After repeated visits to local caregivers who lacked proper equipment, Emenike flew his father to Dubai for treatment, spending about $150,000, but still lost him.
