He explained that despite the delays associated with procurement, the federal government remains committed to equipping the armed forces with modern tools needed to confront terr+rism, b@nditry, and other cr+minal activities.
The president also highlighted broader security reforms, including renewed discussions around state and community policing, which he said would complement federal efforts and improve intelligence gathering at the grassroots level.
Nigeria has in recent years faced escalating security challenges, ranging from insurgency in the North-East to b@nditry, kidn+ppings, and communal vi%lence in other parts of the country. The arrival of the U.S.-made att@ck helicopters is expected to enhance aerial surveillance and combat operations.
Tinubu assured citizens that his administration is working with international partners and exploring multiple strategies to restore peace and stability nationwide.

Tinubu Announces Arrival of Four U.S. Att@ck Helicopters Amid Rising Insecurity.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has announced that four att@ck helicopters purchased from the United States will arrive in Nigeria soon, as the country continues to grapple with widespread insecurity, insurgency, and vi%lent cr+mes across several regions.
The president disclosed this while speaking during a meeting with leaders of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), where he reassured Nigerians that his administration is taking concrete steps to strengthen the nation’s security architecture. According to him, the helicopters are part of ongoing efforts to upgrade military capabilities and improve response to security threats.
Tinubu noted that acquiring advanced military hardware requires time, stressing that such equipment is not readily available “off the shelf.”

He acknowledged the House of Representatives’ concerns over alleged discrepancies between the passed and gazetted versions of the laws and said the Federal Government is open to working with the National Assembly if any corrective steps are required. However, he maintained that the commencement date will not change.
According to Oyedele, the reforms will deliver wide-ranging relief, with about 98 per cent of Nigerian workers paying little or no PAYE tax and roughly 97 per cent of small businesses exempt from corporate income tax, VAT and withholding tax. Large companies, he added, will also benefit from reduced tax liabilities.
He further noted that the reforms are not aimed at raising revenue through higher tax rates but through economic expansion, a broader tax base and improved compliance. The House of Representatives has since set up a committee to investigate the alleged alterations to the tax laws.

New tax laws to take effect January 1, 2026 despite Reps’ concerns — Taiwo Oyedele.
The Nigerian Tax Act and the Nigerian Tax Administration Act will take effect on January 1, 2026, despite concerns raised by the House of Representatives over alleged alterations to the gazetted versions of the laws.
Chairman of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms, Taiwo Oyedele, confirmed this on Friday after briefing journalists following a meeting with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He said the Federal Government remains committed to the timeline, stressing that the reforms are meant to ease the tax burden and boost economic growth.
Oyedele explained that four tax reform laws have been enacted so far. Two—the Nigerian Revenue Service Establishment Act and the Joint Revenue Service Establishment Act—have already been in force since June 26, 2025, while the remaining two will commence in January 2026.

First son, Seyi Tinubu, Installed as Okanlòmo of Eyọ Ọba in Lagos
Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu, and his wife, Layal, have been conferred with new chieftaincy titles in Lagos.
Seyi was installed as the Okanlòmo of Eyọ Ọba Alakẹtẹ Pupa, Laba Ẹkun, a traditional title said to reflect service, character and commitment to the people and cultural heritage of Lagos.
Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, described the honour as recognition of dedication to the state’s traditions and values.
The installation ceremony took place ahead of the Eyo festival, one of Lagos’ most iconic cultural celebrations and a key symbol of the city’s history and identity.
The event underscores the continued importance of traditional institutions in preserving and promoting Lagos culture.

He alleged that the explosions end@ngered innocent lives, stressing that there was “no bandit in the vicinity where the b@mb landed.” Dokubo challenged authorities to present evidence showing that even a single t+rrorist was k+lled in the operation.
“If you have any other proof of where the b@mb landed and k+lled one bandit, just one t+rrorist, I challenge you to come here and show us,” he said.
Dokubo also dismissed suggestions of foreign military dominance in Nigeria’s security operations, stating that the United States could not deploy troops independently into Nigeria. He argued that any foreign involvement would only be through collaboration with Nigerian forces.
“America cannot send troops into a sovereign nation like Nigeria; they can only collaborate with Nigerian troops,” he added.

The U.S. Airstr+kes in Sokoto had no impact; it didn’t k+ll any t+rorrist or d+stroy their camps— Asari Dokubo alleges.
Former Niger Delta militant leader, Asari Dokubo, has criticised reports of recent Airstr+kes in parts of Sokoto State, describing the operation as ineffective and d@ngerous to civilians.
Reacting to reports aired on Arise Television, Dokubo said the strikes did not target bandits or t+rrorists, but instead landed in open fields and near villages, creating craters without recording any casualty among criminal elements.
“It’s so sh@meful and laughable,” Dokubo said, insisting that no bandit was k+lled and no militant camp was d+stroyed. According to him, residents in Sokoto openly claimed the devices used were drones, but argued that they failed to neutralise any security thr+at.
