Of-course I still respect Christians who present the Jesus story from a genuine love and forgiveness perspective. But if it is truth you seek then that is a different objective altogether.

Dispensationalists come to their ideas by a plain reading of the Bible from beginning to end like a story, with God progressively revealing his plan for the world with certain themes woven through history. Each passage ought to stand on its own and means what it would have meant to the original readers. Covenantalism uses a different method, trying to read the New Testament, later revelation back into the Old and imposing certain ideas onto the text with an emphasis on typology. This helps explain why there is disagreement and why Tucker is so adamant about what he has been told. The question ultimately is how should we understand scripture and what conclusion do we come to when we play fair with the text.
