As part of Operation "A Bridge Too Far," nine defendants were charged and arrested in connection with obstructing, impeding, and interfering with law enforcement during a civil disorder, stemming from violence against California Highway Patrol officers in downtown Los Angeles’ Civic Center on June 8th following area protests.  While many demonstrators peacefully exercised their First Amendment rights to protest, some individuals violently obstructed, impeded, or interfered with law enforcement officers.  Specifically, thousands of demonstrators assembled in downtown Los Angeles’s Civic Center to protest the ongoing enforcement of federal immigration laws. Some protesters engaged in violence against officers – resulting in some injuries to the officers – and against public and private property. Federal buildings were vandalized with graffiti and law enforcement vehicles were damaged by protestors wielding blunt objects. Los Angeles police ultimately declared an unlawful assembly. Protesters then walked onto U.S. Highway 101 in downtown Los Angeles and blocked all traffic lanes. California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers responded to that location in patrol vehicles, pushed the protesters off the freeway, and remained there to prevent the protesters from re-entering. By remaining on the freeway, the CHP officers and their vehicles were positioned under and between the overpasses for Main and Los Angeles streets on the 101 Freeway. As the CHP officers stood on the freeway, crowds gathered on the overpasses. At some point thereafter, individual protesters began throwing rocks, electric scooters, street signs, and various other objects at the CHP officers below. At one point, a protester poured a clear yellow liquid onto a CHP car that was ablaze, after which the flames immediately grew in size.   The defendants charged in the complaint were filmed and photographed throwing rocks and other objects at officers and the patrol cars. Warning graphic! WILD FOOTAGE FROM NYC: A visibly Jewish tourist from Jerusalem, 59-year-old Rami Glikstein, suffered a brain bleed after being attacked in Midtown Manhattan. Police say a man dressed in black knocked off his yarmulke, stomped on it, then punched him in the face near the kosher deli Mr. Broadway on West 38th Street. Glikstein was hospitalized at Mount Sinai with facial injuries and internal bleeding. Police are investigating the assault as a hate crime.

Assistant Director in Charge of the FBI's Los Angeles Field Office, Akil Davis, joined federal partners today to announce multiple arrests in connection with violence that erupted during protests earlier this summer in response to immigration enforcement efforts.  Nine subjects were arrested today for their alleged roles in the violence, and the FBI is seeking 28 unidentified subjects for their suspected roles. Please, pray for the Mesa Police Officer who was shot in the line of duty this morning.🙏🏻 Arizona: A police officer was injured and a suspect was killed during a shooting incident Wednesday morning near Mesa Gateway Airport, authorities said. It wasn’t immediately clear whether the suspect was killed by police officers or took his own life, according to the Mesa Police Department. “At this time, I don’t have that information. What I can tell you is that’s all going to be part of our investigation,” Detective John Dreyer told reporters during a press conference at the scene near Sossaman and Ray roads. The wounded officer was taken to a hospital, where he was listed in stable condition. His injuries are not considered life-threatening. The FBI today arrested nine violent agitators in Los Angeles for their roles in a June protest where law enforcement officers were trapped under a bridge and attacked with Molotov cocktails.
