Chief Examiners provide overall supervision and these are the people we work with .. 16 regions in Ghana with one chief examiner for each region .. so for the tracing , you give your index number and full name and school code.. theres a list of the school codes and where their papers will be marked .. we look into the list and then we contact the chief examiner he pulls out your answer sheet and personally does the marking for you ..

Scripts are distributed to secure marking centers across the country (or region) to avoid bias—e.g., scripts from Accra might be marked in Cape. Marking is done in batches.

Tracing Immediately after each exam paper, answer scripts (both objective and essay types) are collected from examination centers by WAEC officials or designated supervisors. Scripts are bundled by subject, center, and session, then transported securely to WAEC's regional or national offices for sorting and collation. This ensures no scripts are lost or misplaced. Objective papers (multiple-choice) are scanned and processed using electronic marking systems, while essay/practical scripts are prepared for manual review.
