India on Friday condemned the killing of Dipu Chandra Das, stating that over 2,900 incidents of violence against minorities have been reported in Bangladesh during the tenure of the interim government led by Muhammad Yunus.
Speaking at the weekly media briefing, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said, "We condemn the recent killing of a Hindu youth in Mymensingh. More than 2,900 incidents of violence against minorities have been documented by sources during the tenure of the interim government".

Japan's Cabinet on Friday approved a record defence budget plan exceeding 9 trillion yen ($58 billion) for the coming year, aiming to fortify its strike-back capability and coastal defence with cruise missiles and unmanned arsenals as tensions rise in the region.
The draft budget for fiscal 2026 beginning April is up 9.4 per cent from 2025 and marks the fourth year of Japan's ongoing five-year programme to double annual arms spending to 2 per cent of gross domestic product.

Health With BS | Australia has issued a health advisory warning that counterfeit batches of a rabies vaccine have been circulating in India since November 2023.
The alert, issued by the Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation (ATAGI), cautions that people vaccinated with the affected brand, Abhayrab, may not be fully protected against rabies, a disease that is almost always fatal once symptoms appear.

US President Donald Trump on Thursday (local time) commented on a US military strike against Islamic State (ISIS) targets in Nigeria, linking the operation to violence against Christians and warning that further action could follow.

Delhi residents woke up to moderate fog on Friday, a day after Christmas, as air quality deteriorated and slipped back into the very poor category. The average Air Quality Index (AQI) for the city, as recorded by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) at 8 am, stood at 305. Anand Vihar recorded the worst air quality, with an AQI of 390.
This comes a day after the AQI had improved to the ‘poor’ category on Christmas, following nearly two weeks of ‘very poor’ and ‘severe’ levels.
