US markets closed higher on Wednesday as the Fed delivered a 25 bps rate cut.
DowJones +1.1%
Nasdaq +0.3%
S&P500 +0.7%
Russell 2000 +1.32%, hitting a fresh all-time high
Fed moves again:
-3rd cut in a row,brings fed funds to 3.50–3.75%
-Launching short-term bond purchases, pushing front end yields lower
-Statement highlights a weakening labor market, dropping language that it “remained low”
-Powell virtually rules out a hike: “I don’t think that a rate hike…is anybody’s base case at this point.”
Looking ahead to 2026:
-Fed projects just one rate cut, but markets aren’t buying it.
-CME FedWatch shows Fed Funds Futures pricing in a 77%+ chance of two additional cuts instead
In After Hours - Oracle -11% despite an earnings beat.
What spooked the Street? Weak revenue and higher spending.
