Reijnders: No panic at Man City despite Leverkusen setback
Tijjani Reijnders says Manchester City remain confident after their 2–0 Champions League defeat to Bayer Leverkusen. Guardiola rotated heavily, resting Haaland, Foden and Donnarumma, and City suffered their second straight loss.
Reijnders said the team knows its quality and must move on quickly, starting with Saturday’s match against Leeds. “We shouldn’t panic,” he noted, pointing to the many games still ahead.
Leverkusen’s goals came from Grimaldo and Schick, with Haaland unable to rescue City late on. Reijnders also downplayed any impact on their December 10 trip to Real Madrid.

Maresca: Don’t put Messi-level pressure on Estevao
Chelsea’s 3–0 victory over Barcelona featured a standout moment from Estevao, who scored a brilliant solo goal shortly after halftime. Despite the hype, coach Enzo Maresca rejected comparisons with Lionel Messi, saying such talk puts too much pressure on 18-year-olds.
Estevao’s goal was his 10th of the season, adding to a Kounde own goal and Delap’s late strike. Barcelona were reduced to 10 men after Ronald Araujo received a second yellow.
The young Brazilian said he felt “no words” to describe his joy and thanked the fans for their support, calling it the best moment of his career.

Liverpool great Souness: Salah lacks desire this season
Graeme Souness delivered a harsh verdict on Mohamed Salah, saying the Liverpool forward “looks like his brother has turned up” amid the team’s woeful run.
Liverpool’s 3–0 home loss to Nottingham Forest marked eight defeats in 11 games. Despite £446m in new signings, Arne Slot’s team has failed to match last season’s level.
Salah’s output has collapsed from 57 goal contributions last year to just five goals in 17 matches, and teams are exploiting his side defensively.
Souness criticised his effort, recalling a Community Shield moment when Salah didn’t even contest a challenge: “He made no attempt.”
He said Salah has “shown a lack of appetite” and must be pushed to return to his superstar level.

Maresca Plays Down Estevao–Yamal Debate Before Champions League Match
Speaking before Chelsea’s showdown with Barcelona, Enzo Maresca said Estevao is already established despite his age and shouldn’t measure himself against others like Yamal.
He praised the Brazilian’s talent and work ethic, calling him a key future player for Chelsea.
Cole Palmer, meanwhile, is back on the pitch but still unlikely to feature this week.

Fernandinho earned 53 Brazil caps, lifting the 2019 Copa America and the 2003 U20 World Cup.

Ex-Spurs defender punished for racist act in K League
Mauricio Taricco, assistant coach at Jeonbuk, has received a five-game ban and a 20-million-won fine for making a racist gesture at referee Kim Woo-seong.
The former Ipswich and Tottenham player was dismissed after a penalty dispute and then made the “slant-eye” gesture.
The K League disciplinary committee confirmed the behaviour as racist, noting similar gestures have previously resulted in FIFA sanctions.
Taricco said he was only indicating the referee’s vision, but the league rejected the explanation.

Arsenal to end ‘Visit Rwanda’ deal after this season
Arsenal will end their long-running partnership with Rwanda at the end of the season, the Rwanda Development Board confirmed.
The “Visit Rwanda” sponsorship, in place for eight seasons, had faced growing criticism amid escalating violence in eastern DR Congo, where Kigali is accused of supporting the M23 militia.
Despite recent ceasefire and peace agreements, thousands have been killed and a major humanitarian crisis continues.
Arsenal fans also protested the deal in April, with the logo featured on the team’s shirt sleeves.
Rwanda said the partnership will conclude by mutual agreement.
The country maintains other sponsorships with PSG, Bayern Munich and Atletico Madrid.

Barça set November 22 return to rebuilt Camp Nou
Barcelona will finally play again at Camp Nou on November 22 against Athletic Bilbao, ending more than two years away while the stadium underwent a €1.5bn reconstruction.
The reopening comes a year later than planned due to delays, with an initial capacity of 45,401 before the top tier lifts it to 105,000.
A test event with 23,000 fans took place earlier this month.
Barça also hope to receive UEFA approval to host Eintracht Frankfurt there in the Champions League on December 9.
Earlier this season, they were forced to play two home matches at the 6,000-seat Johan Cruyff stadium after safety permits were denied.
The original Camp Nou, built in 1957, held 99,000 seats. The new roof is scheduled for installation in summer 2027.

Scotland eye World Cup place as Denmark showdown looms
Scotland’s 3–2 loss to Greece looked costly, but Belarus’ surprise draw in Copenhagen means Steve Clarke’s team will top Group C if they beat Denmark at Hampden.
Billy Dodds and James McFadden highlighted Scotland’s poor first-half defending and lack of belief, but praised the late fightback. Both expect minor changes, with Scott McKenna possibly replacing Grant Hanley.
Billy Gilmour remains a doubt after injury treatment in Naples.
Denmark arrive under pressure after being booed in their draw with Belarus, and a stomach bug has hit their camp.
McFadden expects Hampden’s “unbelievable” atmosphere to push Scotland over the line. Both pundits believe luck and momentum are finally on Scotland’s side.

TFF suspends 25 first-division players in major betting crackdown
The Turkish football federation has suspended 102 players — including 25 from the first division — for betting on matches. Bans range from 45 days to 12 months.
Galatasaray duo Eren Elmali and Metehan Baltaci were sanctioned, with Elmali admitting he placed bets nearly five years ago. Konyaspor’s Alassane Ndao received the longest ban among players: 12 months.
Second-division side Amedspor immediately terminated contracts of five suspended players.
This follows October’s suspension of 149 referees for betting violations.

Gabon coach reveals tactical plan to contain Osimhen threat
Gabon coach Thierry Mouyouma says his team will need a “special defensive plan” to stop Nigeria’s Victor Osimhen in their 2026 World Cup playoff. The coach described the Super Eagles striker as “a difficult problem,” citing his pace, unpredictability, and aerial power.
Mouyouma said Gabon must defend differently than usual: “He loves playing in behind, but even if you block that, there’s still his strength on set pieces. That’s where it gets complex.”
Osimhen has scored six goals in five qualifiers and recently hit a Champions League hat-trick for Napoli. Mouyouma added that Gabon would try to push the game higher up the pitch, manage tempo, and counter Nigeria’s pace to avoid being pinned back.

Messi: “I don’t want to be a burden” ahead of 2026 World Cup decision
Lionel Messi says he hasn’t decided yet whether he’ll play for Argentina at the 2026 World Cup, stressing he’ll only go if he can still perform at the top level.
“It’s a special World Cup,” he told Sport. “But I don’t want to be a burden. I want to feel physically well and be sure I can help the team.”
The Inter Miami forward noted that MLS’s different schedule compared to Europe’s could affect his preparation. Messi, who will turn 39 during the tournament, said his participation will depend on how his body feels closer to 2026.

Spain Release Lamine Yamal After Unexpected Medical Procedure
Spain have dropped Lamine Yamal from their squad for the upcoming qualifiers after Barcelona carried out a radiofrequency procedure to treat a groin sports hernia.
Spain say they only learned about it at 13:47 on Monday and received the medical report almost ten hours later, expressing “surprise and dismay.”
With a 7–10 day recovery window, Yamal won’t join La Roja. Jorge de Frutos fills his spot.
It’s another chapter in the ongoing friction between Spain’s staff and Barcelona over player management.
