The call to apply for the 2024 Cohort of 'Accelerating African Women’s Leadership in Climate Action' Fellowship is now open. The Fellowship seeks to build a vibrant, highly connected and intergenerational network of African women leaders from diverse disciplines committed to address the urgent issue of gender inequalities in climate change adaptation in African agri-food systems. The Fellowship will invest in high-potential African women to lead their institutions and teams of men and women to integrate gender in climate adaptation solutions and catalyze the development of locally relevant solutions that will enhance smallholders’ adaptive capacity to climate change. Fellows will be drawn from diverse organizations including government agencies, non-governmental organizations, academia, research organizations, and the private sector among others. The Fellowship is targeting high-potential women actively engaged in climate change adaptation from Benin, Cameroon, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, and Senegal. Inspired by the AWARD Fellowship Model, the Fellowship seeks to invest in up to 100 competitively selected African women who will become AWARD Climate Fellows, their mentors, and mentees. Selected candidates will participate in an intensive, non-residential, career acceleration process aimed at fostering leadership skills, strengthening skills to integrate gender into climate change solutions, and catalyzing partnerships and networks.
