✞But when he tried to pierce the Saint with a spear, the earth opened up and swallowed him and his followers in their entirety. ✞Saints Joachim and Anna (Hannah) after giving birth to the Virgin, Mother of Light, they lived by praising God and giving to the poor for 3 years. And in those years, St. Anna did not put the Virgin Mary down from her embrace. ✞Holy Angels used to come and play with her and they cared for her. And when she became 3 years old her parents prepared to fulfill their vow by the insisting of St. Anna. ✞As per the rite, they took offerings with them to the Temple and when they reached there, the priests and servants of the Temple came out to receive them. And as the people, the Arch-priest, the Saints Zechariah and Simeon, Joachim, Anna and Virgin Mary stood, the Archangel Phanuel descended from heaven and was seen hovering. ✞Starting from St. Zechariah, all came forth to receive the heavenly bread and drink [that the Archangel had]. However, the Angel distanced himself [from them]. Nevertheless, when the Virgin Mary came forward, he took her up from the ground, covered her with his wings and nourished her with the heavenly meal. And the priests and people that were joyed with this took her into the Temple on Tahisas 3 (December 12). ✞ So that the True Temple of the Divine – the Virgin Saint Mary, on the day when she entered into the Temple of the Old Testament, might hear us, we pray like the scholars on this day saying: “Mary, you are the true Ladder of the land of Luz Let my prayers ascend to you like a good fragrance So that it removes my soul’s sadness.” (Arke of Abba Arke Selus) ✞✞✞Abune Zena Markos the Righteous✞✞✞ =>Abba Zena Markos is a famed Apostolic Saint particularly in the Southern part of our country - in the land of Gurage. The province of Shewa also deserves reverence, as it is where many saints including Abba Zena Markos originated. And what the Prophet of Righteousness, David, had said, “the generation of the upright shall be blessed” (Ps. 112 : 2) was fulfilled in the land of Zorere (Tislalish) [in Shewa]. ✞And there were three blessed brothers who were priests that lived in the area (Zorere). And their names were Tsega Ze’ab, Endrias (Andrew) and Yohannis (John). And from these Tsega Ze’ab married Egzi Hareya and bore Abune Tekle Haymanot - Star of the Stars. Yohannis the Priest on the other hand married a kind woman named Deborah and bore Abune Zena Markos. ✞Abune Zena Markos was conceived on Miyazia 30 (May 8), the commemoration date of St. Mark the Evangelist, and was born on Hedar 24 (December 3), on the commemoration date of the Twenty Four Heavenly Priests. And the era was the 13th century. ✞When Zena Markos was 40 days old, his uncle Priest Endrias (a 72 years old elder) came forth to baptize him [at church]. Then, when the child Zena Markos miraculously came down from his mother’s embrace and prostrated 3 times saying, “I prostrate to the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit” the baptismal water boiled. ✞And the priest, Endrias, who saw this run out frightened but the Archangel St. Raphael appeared to him and said, “Don’t be frightened! Rather take from the holy water and apply it to your head”. And when he did as the angel has instructed, his hair grew as he was bald. ✞When the child Zena Markos became 5 years old, he entered into the catechetical school and learned well the Old and New Testaments in a short time span. And when he returned home after becoming a deacon, bandits found him on the road, took his stick and sent him forth after afflicting him much. ✞However, his stick immediately became a snake and put an end to all the thieves. And as the Saint served his family in obedience while he kept his purity when he became 30 years old his parents betrothed him to a young woman named Mariam Kibra against his will. ✞Yet, on the night of the wedding, he fled from the nuptial chamber and entered the desert. Thereafter, led by a holy angel, he reached Mihur. There, he demolished idols, performed miracles and returned the people to Christianity. However, the noble named Awgit made things difficult for him, imprisoned and deprived him of food.

Memhir Esuendale: #Feasts of #Tahisas_3 ✞✞✞On this day we commemorate the Entrance of Saint Mary into the Temple, the Departure of Abune Zena Markos the Righteous and the annual feast of St. Phanuel the Archangel✞✞✞ ✞✞✞In the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, one God. Amen!✞✞✞ ✞✞✞The Entrance of Saint Mary into the Temple✞✞✞ =>A kind man named St. Joachim who was from the lineage of the Tribe of Judah married a kind woman named Anna who was from the lineage of the Tribe of Levi (Aaron). They lived obeying the law and observing the rites. However, they were despised by the people of the time because they did not have a child. ✞The people of Old Testament used to believe that those without children were “Detached from the grace of God”. As Joachim and Anna became of old age while they prayed and lamented to receive a child [from God], their prime years passed. And because they worshipped the God of Abraham and Sarah, they did not lose hope. ✞The Lord, Who does not withhold what He is asked, did an astounding thing for them in their old age. One day, St. Anna, who saw doves playing with their chicks, wept bitterly. And in sadness she pleaded with, “O God, Who makes animals and beasts even plants bear according to their nature, have You created Anna as a rock?” ✞And St. Joachim who saw this went to a mountain and held a fast. For 40 days, he stayed in prayer and supplication. And on the 40th day, both dreamt dreams. He saw a white dove descend from heaven, enter through Anna’s right ear and reach her womb. ✞She, on the other hand, saw Joachim’s staff blossom, bore fruit and then all the people eating from its sweet produce. And when St. Joachim returned from his fast, they discussed what they had seen and said, “Let the will of God be done”. And for 7 days they beseeched God together. ✞On the 7th day (on Nehasse 7- August 13) the Announcing Angel, St. Gabriel, descended to them moving his wings up and down. And he said, “You will bore a daughter who will be the salvation of the world [by giving birth to the Savior], a reliance of all creation” and disappeared. And they praised God joyously. ✞Hence, they spent the night together and the Mother of Light was conceived. ✞As the scholar has said, ”O Virgin, you were not conceived through unclean lust” (The Anaphora of St. Mary No. 38) ✞“Your conception in the belly, It was without transgression or iniquity And your birth was from a womb that was holy” (The Horologium, Isa.1:9) ✞ “Joachim and Anna bore for us heaven And heaven brought forth for us the Sun” ✞Other parents of the world bore prophets, apostles, the righteous, and the martyrs; and they were honored, and praised for it. Nevertheless, Joachim and Anna bore for us our Lady Mary the Mother of God (the Theotokos) the Queen of Heaven and Earth to whose footmark all creation gathered cannot be equated. ✞Joachim and Anna hence were called the Grandparents of the Incarnate Logos, God the Son. The Saints have prayed until their old age, as mentioned above, as they were saddened for their barrenness. After their purity and compassion were attested to, they received the Virgin Mary. ✞Our Lady was conceived on Nehasse 7 (August 13) and was born on Ginbot 1 (May 9). And after the fall of Adam the Virgin Mary became the first human to be born without Original Sin. †††✝ እንኳን ለእግዝእትነ ማርያም (#በዓታ): አቡነ ዜና ማርቆስ ጻድቅ እና ቅዱስ ፋኑኤል ዓመታዊ በዓል በሰላም አደረሳችሁ፤ አደረሰን። ††† ††† በስመ አብ ወወልድ ወመንፈስ ቅዱስ አሐዱ አምላክ አሜን! ††† ††† በዓታ ለእግዝእትነ ማርያም ††† ††† ከነገደ ይሁዳ የሚወለድ ቅዱስ ኢያቄም የሚባል ደግ ሰው ከነገደ ሌዊ (አሮን) የተወለደች ሐና የምትባል ደግ ሴት አግብቶ በሕጉ ጸንተው: በሥርዓቱ ተጠብቀው ይኖሩ ነበር:: ነገር ግን በዘመኑ ሰዎች "ልጅ የላችሁም" በሚል ይናቁ ነበር:: ኦሪታውያን ልጅ የሌለውን "ኅጡአ በረከት-ከጸጋ እግዚአብሔር የራቀ" ነው ብለው ያምኑ ነበር:: ኢያቄምና ሐና ልጅ እንዲሰጣቸው ሲያዝኑ: ሲጸልዩ ዘመናቸው አልፎ አረጁ:: እነሱ ግን የሚያመልኩት የአብርሃምና ሣራን አምላክ ነውና ተስፋ አልቆረጡም:: የለመኑትን የማይነሳ ጌታ በስተእርጅናቸው ድንቅ ነገርን አደረገላቸው:: አንድ ቀን እርግቦች ከጫጩቶቻቸው ጋር ሲጫወቱ የተመለከተች ቅድስት ሐና ፈጽማ አለቀሰች:: "እንስሳትና አራዊትን: እጽዋትን ሳይቀር በተፈጥሯቸው እንዲያፈሩ የምታደርግ አምላክ ምነው ሐናን ድንጋይ አድርገህ ፈጥረሃታልን?" ብላ አዘነች:: ይህን የተመለከተ ቅዱስ ኢያቄም ወደ ተራራ ወጥቶ ሱባኤ ያዘ:: ለ40 ቀናትም ሲጸልይና ሲማለል ቆየ:: በ40ኛው ቀን ሁለቱም ሕልምን ያልማሉ:: እርሱ:- *ነጭ ርግብ ሰማያትን ሰንጥቃ ወርዳ: በሐና ቀኝ ጀሮ ገብታ: በማሕጸኗ ስትደርስ አየ:: እርሷ ደግሞ:- *የኢያቄም በትር አብቦ: አፍርቶ: ጣፋጭ ፍሬውን ሰው ሁሉ ሲመገበው ታያለች:: ቅዱስ ኢያቄም ከሱባኤ እንደ ተመለሰ ያዩትን ተጨዋውተው "ፈቃደ እግዚአብሔር ይሁን" አሉ:: ለ7 ቀናትም በጋራ እግዚአብሔርን ሲለምኑ ሰነበቱ:: በ7ኛው ቀን (ማለትም ነሐሴ 7) መልአከ ብሥራት ቅዱስ ገብርኤል ክንፉን እያማታ ወደ እነርሱ ወረደ:: "ዓለም የሚድንባት: የፍጥረት ሁሉ መመኪያ የሆነች ልጅ ትወልዳላችሁ" ብሏቸው ተሠወራቸው:: እነርሱም ደስ ብሏቸው እግዚአብሔርን አመሰገኑ:: እንደ ሥርዓቱም አብረው አድረው እመ ብርሃን ተጸነሰች:: "ኦ ድንግል አኮ በፍትወተ ደነስ ዘተጸነስኪ . . . ድንግል ሆይ! ኃጢአት ባለበት ሥጋዊ ፍትወት የተጸነስሽ አይደለም" እንዳለ ሊቁ:: (ቅዳሴ ማርያም) ††† "ለጽንሰትኪ በከርሥ:: እንበለ አበሳ ወርኩስ:: ወለልደትኪ እማሕጸን ቅዱስ . . ." (መጽሐፈ ሰዓታት፣ ኢሳ. 1:9) "ኢያቄም ወሐና ወለዱ ለነ ሰማየ:: ሰማዮሙኒ አስረቀት ለነ ፀሐየ::" "ኢያቄምና ሐና ሰማይን ወለዱልን:: ሰማያቸው ደግሞ ፀሐይን አወጣችልን (ወለደች-አስገኘችልን)" የዓለማችን ወላጆች ነቢያት ሐዋርያትን: ጻድቃን ሰማዕታትን ወልደው ከብረዋል: ተመስግነዋል:: ኢያቄምና ሐና ግን ፍጥረት ሁሉ በአንድነት ቢሰበሰብ በእግሯ የረገጠችውን ትቢያ እንኳ መሆን የማይችል: የሰማይና የምድር ንግሥት: የእግዚአብሔርን እናት: እመቤታችን ማርያምን ወለዱልን:: ኢያቄም ወሐና ለእግዚአብሔር የሥጋዌ አያቶቹም ተባሉ:: ቅዱሳኑ እስኪያረጁ ድረስ በመካንነት አዝነው ፀልየዋል:: ንጽሕናቸውና ደግነታቸው ተመስክሮላቸው ድንግል ማርያምን አግኝተዋል:: እመቤታችን ነሐሴ 7 ቀን ተጸንሳ ግንቦት አንድ ቀን ተወልዳለች:: ከአዳም ስሕተት በኋላ ያለ ጥንተ አብሶ የተወለደች የመጀመሪያዋ ሰው ድንግል ማርያም ሆናለች:: (ኢሳ. 1:9) ††† የእመቤታችን የዘር ሐረግ:- *አዳም-ኖኅ-አብርሃም-ይስሐቅ-ያዕቆብ= *በእናቷ:- ሌዊ-ቀዓት-እንበረም-አሮን-ቴክታና በጥሪቃ-ሔኤሜን-ዴርዴን-ቶና-ሲካር-ሔርሜላና ማጣት-ሐና:: *በአባቷ በኩል:- ይሁዳ-ፋሬስ-ሰልሞን-ቦኤዝ-እሴይ-ዳዊት-ሰሎሞን-ሕዝቅያስ-ዘሩባቤል-አልዓዛር-ቅስራ-ኢያቄም ይሆናል:: ለጨለማው ዓለም የብርሃን መቅረዝ ሆና ትጠቅመን ዘንድ: አንድም ትንቢቱና ምሳሌው ይፈጸም ዘንድ እመቤታችን ቅድስት ድንግል ማርያም: በሊባኖስ ተራራ ከ2,023 ዓመታት በፊት ተወልዳለች:: ቅዱሳን ኢያቄም ወሐና ድንግል እመ ብርሃንን ከወለዱ በኋላ ለ3 ዓመታት እግዚአብሔርን ሲያመሰግኑ: ነዳያንንም ሲጠግኑ ኖሩ:: በእነዚህ ዓመታትም ቅድስት ሐና ድንግል ማርያምን ከእቅፏ አውርዳት አታውቅም:: ቅዱሳን መላእክትም ዘወትር እየመጡ ያጫውቷት ይንከባከቧትም ነበር:: 3 ዓመት በሞላት ጊዜም በቅድስት ሐና አሳሳቢነት ብጽዓታቸውን (ስዕለታቸውን) ይፈጽሙ ዘንድ ተዘጋጁ:: እንደ ሥርዓቱ የሚዘጋጀውን (መባውን) ይዘው ወደ ቤተ መቅደስ ሲደርሱ አበው ካህናትና የመቅደሱ አገልጋዮች ሁሉ ሊቀበሏቸው ወጡ:: ሕዝቡ: ሊቃነ ካህናት ቅዱሳን ዘካርያስና ስምዖን: ኢያቄም ወሐና ከድንግል ማርያም ጋር ቆመው ሳሉም ሊቀ መላእክት ፋኑኤል ከሰማይ ወርዶ ረቦ ታየ:: ከቅዱስ ዘካርያስ ጀምሮ ሁሉም ሰው ሕብስትና ጽዋዑን ለመቀበል ቀረበ:: ግን መልአኩ ራቀ:: ድንግል ማርያም በቀረበች ጊዜ ግን ከመሬት አፈፍ አድርጐ አንስቶ: ክንፉን ጋርዶ ሰማያዊውን ማዕድ መገባት:: በዚህ ደስ የተሰኙ ካህናትና ሕዝቡ እየዘመሩ በታኅሣሥ ሦስት ቀን ወደ ቤተ መቅደስ አስገብተዋታል:: አማናዊት መቅደሰ መለኮት ድንግል ማርያም ወደ ኦሪቱ ቤተ መቅደስ በገባችበት ዕለት ጸሎታችን እንድትሰማን እንደ ሊቃውንቱ:- "ማርያም አንቲ ሰዋስው ዘምድረ ሎዛ:: ዲቤኪ ትዕርግ ጸሎትየ ከመ ጼና ሠናይ መዓዛ:: ኀበ ለነፍስየ ታሰስል ትካዛ" እንላለን:: (አርኬ) ††† አቡነ ዜና ማርቆስ ጻድቅ ††† ††† አባ ዜና ማርቆስ በሃገራችን በተለይ በደቡብ ምድረ ጉራጌ ስመ ጥር ሐዋርያዊ ጻድቅ ናቸው:: ምድረ ሽዋ ደግሞ እርሳቸውን ጨምሮ የብዙ ቅዱሳን መፍለቂያ ናትና ክብር ይገባታል:: ነቢየ ጽድቅ ዳዊት "ትውልደ ጻድቃን ይትባረኩ-የጻድቃን (የቅኖች) ትውልድ ይባረካል" (መዝ. 111) ያለው ነገር በምድረ ዞረሬ (ጽላልሽ) ተፈጽሟል:: ሦስት ወንድማማች የተባረኩ ካህናት በስፍራው ነበሩ:: ስማቸው ጸጋ ዘአብ: እንድርያስና ዮሐንስ ይባላል:: ከእነዚህ መካከልም ጸጋ ዘአብ: እግዚእ ኃረያን አግብቶ ኮከበ ከዋክብት ተክለ ሃይማኖትን ሲወልድ ካህኑ ዮሐንስ ደግሞ ዲቦራ የምትባል ደግ ሴት አግብቶ ዜና ማርቆስን ወልዷል:: የአቡነ ዜና ማርቆስ ጽንሰታቸው ሚያዝያ 30 በብሥራተ ማርቆስ ወንጌላዊ ሲሆን ልደታቸው ደግሞ ኅዳር 24 ቀን በበዓለ ሱራፌል ካህናተ ሰማይ ነው:: ዘመኑም 13ኛው መቶ ክ/ዘመን ነው:: ዜና ማርቆስ በተወለዱ በ40 ቀናቸው አጐታቸው ቀሲስ እንድርያስ (የ72 ዓመት ሽማግሌ ናቸው) ሊያጠምቁ ቀረቡ:: ሕጻኑ ዜና ማርቆስ ግን ከእናታቸው እቅፍ ወርደው 3 ጊዜ "እሰግድ ለአብ ወወልድ ወመንፈስ ቅዱስ" እያሉ ቢሰግዱ የመጠመቂያው ገንዳ ውኃ ፈላ:: ይህንን የተመለከቱት ካህኑ ደንግጠው ወጥተው ሲሮጡ ቅዱስ ሩፋኤል ሊቀ መላእክት ተገልጦ "አትፍራ! ይልቁኑ ከጠበሉ ራስህን ተቀባ" አላቸው:: እንዳላቸው ቢያደርጉ ራሰ በራ ነበሩና ጸጉር በቀለላቸው:: ሕጻኑ ዜና ማርቆስ ግን 5 ዓመት ሲሞላቸው ወደ ጉባኤ ቤት ገብተው በአጭር ጊዜ ብሉይ ከሐዲስ ጠነቀቁ:: ዲቁናን ተቀብለው ወደ ቤታቸው ሲመለሱም ሽፍቶች አግኝተው: በትራቸውን ቀምተው: አንገላተው ሰደዋቸዋል:: ወዲያው ግን ያቺ በትር እባብ ሁና ሽፍቶችን አጥፍታቸዋለች:: ጻድቁ ለቤተሰብ እየታዘዙ: ንጽሕናቸውንም እየጠበቁ ኑረው 30 ዓመት ሲሞላቸው ወላጆቻቸው ግድ ብለው ማርያም ክብራ ለምትባል ወጣት አጯቸው::
