High Network Load on TON ⌛ In the following hours, TON network may experience overload, which could result in longer-than-usual transaction processing times. What's causing this? Today marks the listing of $CATI (Catizen token), which will generate tens of millions of transactions—minting and transferring tokens. Additionally, listings of other major projects are expected soon.

Technical explanation: due to the mass minting of tokens, a large number of transactions are being created, overwhelming the mempools of weaker or improperly configured validators. They struggle to clear executed transactions from their databases before new ones flood in. Meanwhile, some validators manage to keep up thanks to stronger hardware and up-to-date configurations. Because of these discrepancies in transaction processing, weak and strong validators are unable to reach consensus according to the algorithm, making it unsafe to create new blocks. The only correct solution in this situation is to temporarily suspend transaction processing and block creation to eliminate any chance of losing users' tokens.

TON developers have already done a lot to optimize the load: 🔵updated the core and called on validators to update their nodes 🔵introduced slashing mechanisms to improve validator performance 🔵developed the revolutionary TON Mintless Jettons to speed up transactions 🔵and urged to pause some events on TON. To control a wallet, you need a password — the seed phrase. It typically consists of 12 random words from a dictionary of 2048 words. The complexity of such a password is 5 * 10^39 combinations.

Hackers usually crack regular passwords using brute force method: they go through all possible combinations until they find the right one. But if they tried to brute force a seed phrase and check a quadrillion combinations per second, it would take 317,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 years to crack the wallet 😋 To achieve this level of security using regular letters and numbers, you'd need to create passwords with 30 or more characters. Such passwords are much harder to write down and enter without mistakes than a simple 12-word phrase. So, as long as you keep your seed phrase secret, all hackers combined won't be able to crack your wallet even in a million years. TON will start penalizing validators 🏎 How will it affect Tonstakers? It won't TON developers have announced the full activation of slashing (a penalty mechanism) starting September 9. Validators who create less than 90% of the blocks assigned to them will be fined 101 TON — the average reward amount for one staking cycle. Why are penalties needed? Slashing punishes inefficient validators and forces them to either perform better or leave. This increases network stability: there will be no more disruptions and pauses in operation. 😟 Will slashing affect Tonstakers?
