Monster… A middle school teacher in Utah was arrested and charged with more than 20 sex crimes after she "used her position of trust to prey upon and groom a middle school child.” Alisha Marie George, 40, Utah Middle School Teacher at Hawthorn Academy, is charged with attempted rape and four counts of forcible sodomy, first-degree felonies; 12 counts of forcible sexual abuse, a second-degree felony; distributing pornographic material, and four counts of unlawful kissing of a child. A 15-year-old boy said he began attending Hawthorn Academy when he was 12 years old and in 7th grade. He said he had a hard time but that his teacher, George, helped him. The boy said George invited him and other students to eat with her at a restaurant during the summer of 2023, but that "she got in trouble for this lunch," according to the probable cause statement. At the beginning of 8th grade, the boy said he was 13 years old and had a "tight relationship" with George. He said he was struggling at home, and that George acted as a "mother figure" who was "always there for him." The day before Christmas break, the school was reportedly playing a movie in the gym, and George told him to save her a spot. George allegedly brought a blanket, sat next to him, and grabbed him. During the break, George was accused of taking the boy to a movie and unlawfully kissing him in the car. The abuse reportedly continued throughout 2024, when his mother — who was friends with George — was recovering from surgery. Court documents state that after George was arrested, "multiple students" reported that they, too, had been groomed by her or observed her inappropriate behavior. The incident is under investigation, and, according to court documents, "the State anticipates additional charges will be filed, which would include conduct related to additional child victims."
