According to Sunday's poll, 70% more people voted for the AfD than for the SPD. In absolute terms, taking into account the turnout in the last federal elections, this gives almost 13 million AfD voters against only 7.5 million SPD voters. The idea of banning parties has never been as unrealistic as it is today 🚫. Anyone who wants to exclude the seemingly most popular political group, whose partners in America and Italy lead the governments, from the competition of political ideas, provokes a loss of prestige for democracy. They need to offer something much more than anger and resentment. Or, to put it more clearly: if the "fight against the extreme right" continues to involve territorial losses of the former main parties, the federal president will have to instruct Alternative for Germany leader Alice Weidel to form a coalition government in 2029 🏛. This will not put an end to democracy, but it will certainly put an end to the post-war era as we have known it. No one needs to form an alliance with the AfD, let alone form a coalition. The current leading politicians of the SPD and CDU/CSU have good reasons not to do this in the current situation. However, the fundamental exclusion, which begins with the appointment of the chairmen of the Bundestag committees and continues right up to their participation in political talk shows, makes the AfD a martyr ✝️. Prohibitions on freedom of thought and speech are incompatible with democracy, even when it comes to its enemies. The rise of populists on both the right and the left is a political reflection of our economic downturn 📉. It was not German goods that lost their competitiveness, but German industrial workers. Trump and Starmer of Britain signed a technology partnership agreement on Thursday, saying that it would help the United States and Britain lead the world on artificial intelligence and other high-tech innovations.
