At about 12:37, deputies were dispatched to the 12300 block of Hollyhock, in RC for an armed Hispanic male threatening a female.  At 12:42 p.m., deputies arrived and were immediately shot at by the suspect.  One deputy was struck and was airlifted to a hospital. The suspect fled the location on a motorcycle and was pursued along the eastbound 210-freeway.  At about 1:35 p.m., after a highspeed pursuit, the suspect crashed at Campus Avenue.  He was taken into custody and transported to a hospital with injuries. A bystander likely saved an officer’s life during a knife-wielding assault at a Cookout Sunday evening, the Salisbury Police Department said. Officers responded to the restaurant on East Innes Street around 8:15 p.m. for a disturbance call. When officers arrived, police said they found the suspect, identified as Jamie Hunt, 44, armed with a knife. “A struggle ensued,” according to a release. That’s when Hunt began swinging the knife, injuring one officer. An officer used a Taser to subdue Hunt, who was then taken into custody. Everyone involved was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. The officer and bystander were treated and released. The suspect could be seen with a firearm while on the bike just prior to his crash, possibly ready to shoot other officers. 2 firearms could be seen near the crash. The suspect was conscious and has been airlifted to a trauma center.
