The GREAT UN-Brainwashing
32. The Reticular Activating System is a mass of nerves located at the brain stem, which are responsible for various functions, including tuning attention, regulating behaviour and driving motivation. It is this part of the brain that, once you learn a word, starts seeing it everywhere, or if you think about a green apple, they show up everywhere. It is also responsible for one being tuned in to the sound of their name in a crowded room.
Take, for example, an experiment that was conducted at News Treason Channel in August. Before closing on a Sunday, we asked members to keep track of how many 'Qs' they viewed and to take photos to share the following Monday. Of the 12 members that participated, 11 reported seeing and photographing 17s, not Qs, with only 1 actually seeing the letter Q.
This interesting phenomenon illustrates some of our former installments in action, Dopamine Loops (#19) and Social Contagion (#11). We are conditioned to equate Qs with 17. Although this was not an experiment conducted with ill intent, it becomes obvious that it can be and was used to condition the human mind through repetition in media and advertising.
RAS is also responsible for one being able to drive to work daily on automatic pilot. It could be considered a gatekeeper standing between four of the senses and what comes into our awareness, forming a connection between the conscious and the subconscious. It is RAS that wakes a parent to the soft crying of their baby. This brilliant system also helps communicate and modulate pain sensations to the cerebral cortex.
The extraordinary part of RAS is that you can activate, or rather, train your brain to bring your goals into reality using this system. Some call it manifesting, others the law of attraction and some merely see it as positivity creating more positivity. One simply focuses attention on a situation or goal, thinks about the result, then creates a mental movie of how it will turn out, with focus on senses. And repeat. Whatever we give our focus to, we experience more of it in our lives. It is just like the green apple, only better.
In the movie, Number 23, starring Jim Carrey, a man becomes obsessed with the number 23 and the concept of the 23 enigma, which suggests that the number 23 appears with unusual frequency in various contexts and may be a symbol of some larger, hidden significance. There is even a phobia associated with this enigma, referred to as eikositriophobia.
Although the Reticular Activating System can happen with anything, it is easy to see how numbers/dates/timestamps are a large part of this Q movement and connect to the drops we often focus on. We are conditioned to recognise and see certain numbers or to immediately create mathematical connections in our heads that provide us with confirmation bias. This is the tendency of people to favour information that confirms or strengthens their beliefs or values and is difficult to shift once affirmed.
Many find they see/hear numbers, words, songs, animals or objects more than others. Are we actually seeing them more, or are we training our brain to retrieve them from our observable and auditory worldview? Has the focus on numbers in particular motivated most of us to think in a different way?
With all the information overload we are all experiencing at present, the understanding of our brilliant minds and how they process this knowledge is nothing short of miraculous. We are all someone we had never dreamed of being.
