TheCable reports that the EFCC has traced 41 properties valued at about N212 billion to Abubakar Malami, former attorney-general of the federation and minister of justice, in connection with investigations into his tenure in office. According to the report, the assets include hotels, residential buildings, parcels of land, schools & a printing press, located across Kebbi State, Kano State & the FCT. TheCable stated that properties allegedly linked to Malami in Kebbi State are valued at N162.19 billion, while those in Kano State are estimated at N16.01 billion. Assets traced to the FCT are said to be worth N34.68 billion. In addition, the federal government has filed a 16-count charge bordering on alleged money la¥ndering against the former justice minister. The charges were instituted at the Federal High Court in Abuja. Malami is standing trial alongside his son, Abubakar Abdulaziz Malami, and Bashir Asabe, an employee of Rahamaniyya Properties, who are listed as co-defendants in the case.
